Background of Talking Drum
In a world where comedy is becoming more and more sterile, Talking Drum is determined to be the one to take comedy back to its roots and talk about issues that matter.
Born Sunday Chinonso Eze, was born on the 24th of February, 1997. Bordered to the north and northeast by Benue State, Talking drum is from Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
And while there are many different styles of comedy, Talking drum type of comedy uses music and rhythm to tell a story or make a point. In the below electrifying video, he got the crowd emotionally attached with a dramatic entrance and storyline with harmonizing collaboration.
This style of comedy is growing in popularity, especially among the young generation who need something different from regular stage talks. And it’s easy to see why. Talking drum is fresh, funny, and full of energy.
Education
Comedy is one of the most ancient and important forms of human expression. It has the power to make us laugh, think, and feel. It can change the way we see the world and ourselves. Mostly, our upbringing plays a greater role.
Nonetheless, talking drum educational background began from his primary school days. He schooled in Agape Nursery and Primary School and further moved to Port Harcourt City to attend Community Secondary School Rumampara.
From his childhood, his comedy style involved the use of happenings, drums, etc to create a rhythm that helps to guide the jokes and punchlines. This makes it extremely easy for audiences to follow along.
Talking Drum currently schools at the University of Port Harcourt where he studies Anatomy (by choice).
What sets Talking Drum apart from other types of comedy is its ability to connect with audiences on a deeper level. The rhythms help to create an emotional connection that goes beyond simply making people laugh. This type of comedy has the power to touch people’s hearts and minds, and that is why it is the future of comedy.
Career
Comedy is one of the most popular genres of entertainment, and Talking Drum is at the forefront of this rapidly growing industry. As a Funny Guy, I have had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest names.
His career started in his secondary days when he makes his classmates laugh. As a school prefect throughout his educational days, he always had the opportunity to interact with people more often.
Before getting admission into the University, he was a four (4) time Jambite. So he used the opportunity to start full time and his first stage opportunity was in a church. Funny to say, no one except his MUM laughed. He still believe he could be better and didn’t take a step back.
Next, he went into stage performance in-depth and comedic competition. God’s of the Stage was one memorial for him as he came out as the Most Exceptional Comedy Act. He also contested in Upsurge which he came out as the Second Runner Up. In all categories, he has always won notably.
In DTH, he ended up in the Semi-Finals where he got eliminated due to fans’ minimal votes, but he mentioned how grateful he is. Some stages he has performed also include Metamorphosis featuring the likes of Chioma Jesus. Also at the University of Ibadan’s 53rd annual conference where he made the room light up with smiles.
